It has long been the subject of myth and legend in Bosnia.
Now archaeologists have begun digging for what they hope is an ancient pyramid hidden beneath a mysterious hill.
If confirmed to be authentic, it will the first pyramid discovered in Europe.
STORYLINE:
Researchers claim to have found geometrically cut stone blocks covering a central Bosnian hill that a hobby archaeologist claims is a pyramid.
Archaeologists and other experts began digging on the sides of the mysterious hill near the central Bosnian town of Visoko last week.
On Wednesday the team revealed geometrical stone blocks on one side, which Semir Osmanagic, the leader of the team, claims are the outer layer of the pyramid.
Researchers says the huge stone blocks appear to be cut in cubes and polished, as if they were man - made.
