Finding relics off the sides of the old dirt roads metal detecting

Metal detecting the old dirt roads here in NH and what I am finding is the relics and old stuff is off the sides. From years of history and shifting the dirt all the stuff has been pushed off the shoulders. I was digging up old buttons from the 1700s and 1800s 6 inches deep easily. Walking around and exploring these old places is pretty cool and something to see. Old rock walls that go on for miles and cart paths that wind through the forest. metal detecting old places like this is sometime to really enjoy.
