OPC UA Field eXchange (FX) extends the OPC UA standard to support real-time, deterministic communication for industrial automation, enabling seamless interoperability across diverse devices and systems. Ensuring the reliability and conformance of OPC UA FX implementations is critical for achieving interoperability and maintaining system integrity. This paper explores the testing and certification process for OPC UA FX using the Compliance Test Tool (CTT). It details the structure and functionality of the CTT, including automated test cases for core OPC UA FX features such as PubSub communication, deterministic data exchange, and information model validation. The paper outlines the certification workflow, emphasizing how the CTT helps identify non-conformities, ensures compliance with OPC UA FX specifications, and facilitates the certification process. The paper concludes by discussing future developments in OPC UA FX testing, including expanded test coverage and the role of certification in fostering industrial interoperability and Industry 4.0 adoption.
