Celestron PowerSeeker80EQ - A quick review of a low priced beginner refractor Telescope!

This was my first refractor telescope - the Celestron Powerseeker 80eq. Is it the best refracting telescope ever? Certainly not! But for the price it's a great beginner package that is easy to transport. Don't forget to purchase a few accessories if you get it (eyepieces for example).

Examples in this video include the Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn. Although I only had this scope for a month or two, I actually miss it (It got traded it for an Astromaster 90). It's just so easy to move and setup. After you get the hang of using an equatorial mount, you'll never go back to Alt-AZ mount again! The included accessories are garbage, but you'll probably want to get better ones anyways.

So what's it good for? The moon and planets are AWESOME! The 900mm focal length works great for them and star clusters. Pretty sure the most you'll see in terms of nebulas are Orion and the Ring Nebula. Its small aperture limits you to viewing the brightest of deep sky objects. Andromeda is pretty easy to see, but beyond that, I'm not sure I've ever seen another galaxy without using a camera.
