Director of Faith Matters Iman Abou Atta's intervention at RCC: rise of anti-Muslim hatred
Iman Abou Atta, Director of Faith Matters and Tell MAMA, brought urgent attention to the shifting landscape of anti-Muslim hatred at our recent Resilient Communities conference, revealing how global events, online hate and far-right movements have fueled a dangerous climate for Muslim communities.
His address exposed the reality that anti-Muslim hatred doesn’t erupt overnight—it builds through silence, fear and misinformation. And like other forms of racism, its impact is far-reaching, corrosive and demands a collective, unflinching response.
The Resilient Communities: Improving Interfaith Cooperation and Fostering Best Practices conference was organised by the European Jewish Congress, in partnership with SACC by EJC and Faith Matters, and held in Brussels, Belgium.
The event, funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV) as part of the “BADRI – Bringing Awareness, Dialogue and Resilience Improvement” project, brought together European Commission officials, Members of the European Parliament, diplomats, community leaders, interfaith experts, legal professionals, and representatives from various faith-based organisations.
