Harbour Light Cottage - Part 14 - A Nautical Decor - Sitting Room & Pool Room

Join me for a tour of the second floor of Harbour Light Cottage, where the sitting room and pool room slowly evolved into relaxed nautical spaces with warmth, personality, and a polished collected-over-time look.
In this video, I’ll share how the decorating process unfolded step by step…how the colour palette was developed, why certain furniture pieces were repainted, how the fabrics, rugs, lighting, and accessories were layered together, and how I created visual flow between both rooms while still giving each its own character.
You’ll see how the nautical theme was carried throughout the spaces using deep coastal blues, weathered woods, vintage-inspired furnishings, maps, lanterns, striped fabrics, nautical artwork, and carefully placed details that helped tell the story of the Sea Captain’s life.
I’ll also talk about achieving that finished “polished” look in miniature decorating…the kind of room that feels complete, comfortable, lived in, and believable rather than simply filled with furniture.
Of course, decorating Harbour Light Cottage never happens without commentary from the Sea Captain himself…who remains deeply suspicious of white furniture, decorative cushions, and anything he considers remotely “citified.”
From the cozy sitting room to the Captain’s beloved pool room retreat, this floor became one of my favourite areas in the entire cottage.
