Glenn Gould talks about Stravinsky, Schoenberg, and Soviet music

Edited captions are available for this item. Select 'English', not 'English (auto-generated)'.
From 1962, an interview between Glenn Gould and an unknown interviewer. Canning tells us that it was never broadcast. Reference is made to Gould 'having passed 30', and Stravinsky's 'recent' visit to the Soviet Union, which places the interview shortly after September of 1962. Gould says 'I still occasionally give concerts', so it could not be later than spring of 1964. In fact, he even gives circumstances under which he would give future concerts, so clearly his mind was not made up at this time to definitively leave the stage.
Mention is made of the International Composers Conference of 1960: https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/international-conference-of-composers-emc
