Snakes You DON'T Want To Mess With!

From spitting cobras and Black Mambas … to the incredibly venomous Inland Taipan (TIE-pan) … Here are 20 of the deadliest snakes on Earth!
#20 Jameson’s Mamba
Coming up, you’ll meet some other members of the Mamba family. And like some of them, this one is fast, it likes to live in the trees, and it is extremely venomous. They have slender bodies that can measure nearly 9 feet long (2.7 m), and carry a venom that is highly neurotoxic. Bites can prove fatal within 2 hours if left untreated. They’re found in Africa where they typically inhabit woodlands and rainforests. But they can also adapt to areas that have undergone significant deforestation.

#19 Tiger Snake
They get their name due to the bands that kind of resembles the tigers stripes. The large venomous critters are found in Australia, in addition to Tasmania. They typically grow more than one meter long (3.3 feet), with strong venom that accounts for mortality rates as high as 60 percent for untreated bites. Between 2005 and 2015, 17 percent of identified snake bite came from this species, with 4 fatalities recorded over that time.
#18 Common Death Adder
This critter native to Australia and New Guinea is regarded as one of the most venomous land snakes you’ll find down under. It’s identified by a broad, triangular head and a thick body that can grow to around 3 feet long (1 m) Found from forests to grasslands, they can stay camouflaged under loose leaves and forest debris while waiting to ambush their prey. And we’re lucky that they’re considered to be non aggressive towards humans. These animals have the fastest strike of all venomous snakes recorded in Oz. Its highly toxic venom can cause death within 6 hours of being bitten.
#17 Philippines Cobra
These spitting cobras can grow more than 5 feet long (1.5 m), and have a stocky build. When threatened, their long cervical ribs will extend to assume the familiar cobra hood. But a more effective and defensive display is their talent for accurately spitting venom at targets from up to 10 feet away (3 m). While they typically inhabit forested regions and low-lying plains, they’re often found near human settlements, in addition to ponds and rivers. Did you know their venom is strong enough to trigger respiratory paralysis within 30 minutes of being bitten?

#16 Eastern Green Mamba
Growing more than 6.5 feet long (2 m), they're found in East Africa. Thanks to their coloration, they’re able to effectively blend into their habitat, and stay camouflaged in trees and bushes. The potent venom of this snake can cause a number of symptoms, including respiratory paralysis, which can lead to death within 30 minutes. Experts says that the mortality rate for untreated bites is extremely high.
#15 Caspian Cobra
Native to Central Asia, it’s also known as the Russian Cobra. But whatever name it goes by, this reptile is recognized as the world’s most venomous cobra species. Within an hour after being bitten, the victim can show symptoms including swelling and paralysis of the limbs and throat. Experts say the mortality rate for untreated bites from this species can reach as high as 75 percent.
