Pakistan Cricket team toured India in 1998/99 season after a gap of almost 12 years, to play "Two Test Match Test Series", "Asian Test Championship" and "ODI Tri-series (India-Pakistan-Sri Lanka)".

First Test Match between India and Pakistan was played from 28-31 January 1999 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The much anticipated and hyped 2 Match Test Series provided its viewers everything the game of Cricket could offer. It was one of the most closely fought Test Series ever played with 1st Test at Chennai perhaps the best Test Match ever played.

Since the very beginning, India vs Pakistan, Chennai Test 1999 was very closely fought with both teams trying to dominate each other in all facets of the game. The last day (Day 4) of Chennai test was "the day" for any test match cricket lover as throughout the day match swung from one side to another. With the dismissal of centurion Sachin Tendulkar, Pakistan eventually won the game merely by 12 runs to register a magnificent win on Indian soil.
