addafi Stadium in Lahore is undergoing significant renovations to prepare for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allocated approximately Rs7.7 billion for these upgrades, focusing on enhancing spectator experience and meeting international standards
The stadium's seating capacity is set to increase from 21,500 to over 34,000+. This expansion includes moving spectator enclosures 20 feet closer to the playing field.
A new pavilion is being constructed to provide five-star facilities for players, match officials, commercial partners, and dignitaries, aligning with the highest standards required for international events.
The renovation includes the installation of advanced high-resolution replay screens size 80X30 feet and 22X37 Feet, state-of-the-art LED floodlights to enhance the quality of live broadcasts and the viewing experience for fans.
The existing floodlight towers and seating structures are being repurposed and upgraded to improve safety and functionality. Additionally, the drainage system is being modernized to ensure optimal pitch conditions. A huge water tank is also being built outside the stadium, in which all rainwater will be collected.
The renovation work commenced in late August 2024, with the demolition of existing structures and the construction of new facilities. The PCB aims to complete the project by December 31, 2024, ensuring the stadium is ready to host the ICC Champions Trophy in early 2025.
