How To Access your Router from Outside Network

Learn how to access your router from outside network, in fact from anywhere around the world.

Why would you want to do that? Don't know. Maybe someone at home needs your help in power cycling your home router as the network is frozen? Whatever the reason is. This is a very handy know-how to have.

Firstly, I will show you how to configure Linksys router for remote access. We will learn how to perform port forwarding to allow remote access. After that, I will show you how to use one of the Dynamic DNS providers you can use for free. The free Dynamic DNS services I am demonstrating here is called noip. I will show you how to setup an account in No-IP and how to configuring DDNS settings with your No-IP account.

Just a foot note, Dynamic DNS (DDNS) is a service for mapping Internet domain names to a computer with dynamic IP Address.

I will be demonstrating how you can perform the remote management setup for a Linksys router. And how you can do the same configuration on a D-Link and ASUS routers.

Spoiler Alert
- Enable Remote Management function on the router
- Register with DDNS service provider... like noip.com
- Associate the DDNS URL in your router in the DDNS section
