Top 5 MISTAKES NEW YOUTUBERS MAKE - Advice for New YouTubers (2020)

A lot of mistakes are made on YouTube, especially by new YouTubers. These are the top 5 biggest mistakes I made on YouTube and how you can avoid them. Avoiding these will fast track your growth and also help you begin monetizing far faster!

1. Confusing YouTube: It is easy to think that casting a super wide net will allow you to get more attention on YouTube. The opposite is actually true. Try to keep both your video and channel tags as relevant as possible so YouTube actually knows what your content is about. This will increase the likelihood of them sharing it with potentially interested people.

2. You Can't Please Everyone: Trying to keep everyone happy or avoid offending someone is truly impossible and a huge mistake. Passion creates action so be genuine, be yourself and provide YOUR value. This is how you will cultivate a loyal following and help you to grow. View the negativity like I did, once the hate comments start coming in, you must be doing something right.

3. Be Consistent: Consistency is key. Most creators know this but still fail to maintain it. Be realistic with yourself and keep yourself accountable. There are algorithm benefits for being consistent from YouTube but even just for yourself, remaining consistent is a great idea. This will force you to get better, find out what works and just as importantly, what doesn't.

4. Track Your Analytics: YouTube provides a ton of free data on your channel that you should absolutely leverage. Knowledge is power. Knowing your channel inside and out will only help your channel grow faster and dramatically improve the quality and performance of your content.

5. Start Making Money: Just because YouTube has minimum requirements to start monetizing your videos, doesn't mean you can't make money while your channel is still growing. Take the time to find affiliate programs in your niche and start making small amounts of money through funnelling the traffic coming from your videos. It won't be much to start but something is better than nothing and like anything, it will grow along with you.
