How to apply for Vietnamese citizenship or a 5 year visa in America.

Summary of actions:
1.) Email visatovn@vietnamembassy.us to inquiry instructions for your situation on how to obtain citizenship or visa
2.) Follow instructions on http://vietnamembassy-usa.org/vi/basic-page/111-thu-tuc-cap-ho-chieu-lan-dau-doi-voi-nguoi-chua-tung-co-ho-chieu-viet-nam
a.) Print a set of passport styled photos (2 total pictures)
b.) Take an image of one of the passport style photos, this will be used later
c.) Fill out “Tờ khai” form with passport style photo attached (notarized)
d.) Fill out “Sơ yếu lý lịch” form with passport styled photo attached (notarized)
e.) Photocopy necessary documents:
i.) Driver’s license (notarized)
ii.) Passport ID page (notarized)
iii.) Birth certificate (notarized)
iv.) Document of your vietnamese relative (parents or spouse)
(1) Birth certificate or Passport ID page and/or Marriage certificate (notarized)
3.) Request for fedex door to door service

4.) You should receive a phone call located from Washington D.C. and they will give you the payment options and amount ($110)
a.) If you choose paypal the address will be: https://www.paypal.me/EmbassyofVietNaminDC
5.) They will instruct you to fill out the visa exemption certificate: http://vietnamembassy-usa.org/consular/visa-exemption
6.) You may receive the 5 year visa the very next day (you’ll get fedex tracking information via email)
7.) After receiving the 5 year visa, email the following documents to visatovn@gmail.com:
a.) Image of passport styled photo from step 2.B.
b.) Passport ID page (notarized)
c.) Vietnam 5 year visa
d.) Birth certificate (notarized)
e.) Driver’s license (notarized)
f.) Document of your vietnamese relative (parents or spouse)
i.) Birth certificate or Passport ID page and/or Marriage certificate (notarized)
g.) (not sure if necessary) “Sơ yếu lý lịch” form with passport style photo attached (notarized)
8.) Wait for a call from Washington D.C. with instructions for payment ($1585 or 2085) to https://www.paypal.me/EmbassyofVietNaminDC
9.) Take a screenshot of paypal payment and email visatovn@vietnamembassy.us
10.) Wait around 2 weeks for your passport and vietnamese birth certificate :)
