Quarantunes #29 with Raul Malo & Band of Heathens 🎶 My Sweet Lord by George Harrison

Hey there everybody...I hope you’re all hanging in there as best you can. Happy to report we’re all safe in our house. Everyone was tested last week and thankfully all results were negative. For this week’s “Quarantunes”, we have a collaboration with one of my favorite bands…@The Band of Heathens. I met these boys on the Sandy Beaches Cruise a few years ago. We’ve broken bread together, shared wine, shared stages, guzzled tequila, smoked joints, laughed out loud, watched Black Oak Arkansas on the Outlaw Cruise like schoolchildren on a field trip...And now in this time of self isolation and quarantine, we’ve managed to record together one of our favorite songs, “My Sweet Lord”, by @George Harrison.

I love how things are supposed to work out. A few weeks ago I had started recording “My Sweet Lord”. All I had was my vocals and the twelve string rhythm. (On a technical note) I was playing around with the @Abbey Road Studios @Waves Audio plugins and I was using my Mojave Audio mics in trying to go for “that” sound. So Ed (from BOH) reached out about doing a song for their #GoodTimeSupperClub, which airs every Tuesday night. I happened to have “My Sweet Lord” ready to go. So this was a no brainer and talk about perfect timing. I knew they would kill it and they did!

By the way they have a new record (Stranger) which will be out September 25th. Check it out! We (@The Mavericks) also have a new episode of #TheMavericksShow, airing on the 19th of September. Anyways, thank you for being great fans and supporting artists like you do. Continue to take care of yourselves so we can get back to a version of “normal” and get back to seeing all this music in a live setting.
