Ella Fitzgerald - Lover Man (Live @ Stockholm Sweden) Pablo Records 1966
Conducted by Quincy Jones and His Orchestra with Zoot Sims on Saxaphone, "Misty" is a jazz standard written in 1954 by the pianist Erroll Garner. Originally composed as an instrumental following the traditional 32-bar format, the tune later had lyrics by Johnny Burke and became the signature song of Johnny Mathis. This song is from the album "Vaughan and Violins".
The Stockholm, Sweden Concert is a 1966 live album by the American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, accompanied by the Duke Ellington Orchestra. The recording remained unreleased until 1984. It is notable as the last release of Ella's four recorded collaborations with Duke Ellington, later in 1966 Ella and Duke went on to record their final album together; Ella and Duke at the Cote D'Azur.
Ella's accompanied by Cat Anderson, Herbie Jones, Cootie Williams (tp), Lawrence Brown, Chuck Connors, Buster Cooper (tb), Johnny Hodges (as), Russell Procope (as, cl), Paul Gonsalves (ts), Jimmy Hamilton (ts, cl), Harry Carney (bs), Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington (p), Jimmy Jones (p, arr), Joe Comfort (b), and Gus Johnson (d). Recorded February 8, 1966, The Stockholm Circus, Stockholm, Sweden. (Pablo Records)
I don't know why but I'm feeling so sad
I long to try something I never had
Never had no kissin'
Oh, what I've been missin'
Lover man, oh, where can you be?
The night is cold and I'm so alone
I'd give my soul just to call you my own
Got a moon above me
But no one to love me
Lover man, oh, where can you be?
I've heard it said
That the thrill of romance
Can be like a heavenly dream
I go to bed with a prayer
That you'll make love to me
Strange as it seems
Someday he'll come
And dry all my tears
And whisper sweet
Little things in my ear
Hugging and a-kissing
Oh, what I've been missing
Lover man, oh, where can you be?
I've heard it said
That the thrill of romance
Can be like a heavenly dream
I go to bed with a prayer
That you'll make love to me
Strange as it seems
Someday he'll come
And dry all my tears
And whisper sweet
Little things in my ear
Just a hugging and a-kissing
Oh, what I've been missing
Lover man, where can...
Lover man where can you be?
