Top 5 Must See Yellowstone Hidden Gems

Timber Traders Co aims to inspire and cultivate enthusiasm for our national parks! This video explores some little known treasures in Yellowstone National Park, off the beaten path attractions and one of a kind views. Come and see our top 5 hidden gems of Yellowstone - locations you won't want to miss when you visit!

1.) Queen's Laundry

Really one of the most overlooked places in all of yellowstone. Queen's laundry was originally suggested by a superintendent in 1881 to serve as a bath house for guests at the park.

Obviously, as you can see, it did not catch on with the public and the building ended up being neglected. Now it remains a ruin, that can still be seen today. An excellent place to

visit for those that find abandoned buildings fascinating. Be prepared for a hike, because this is not one of the main places to visit and you will find few whoknow the directions to

this place. But, if you are a avid explorer, this can be a real treat while treking through yellowstone to find unique sights.

2.) Uncle Tom's Trail (~1-min)

It was a trail made popular shortly after the 1900's, by "uncle" Tom Richardson. Originally, this path included over 500 steps and a rope ladder. Now it consists of 328 steps, which is

about 3/4 of the original way down into the canyon. Leading up to the trail is some paved inclines that ultimately lead to the steps down. The trail ends in a viewing area with an

exquisite veiw of the Lower Falls. As you can imagine, turning over 500 steps into 328 steps means that this is a very steep trail. Uncle Tom's Trail will most definently leave you

gasping for breathe, which will obviously make it less popular with most tourists and even deadly for those with heart conditions. So, we at Timber Traders Company strongly suggest

against using this trail if you have a pre-existing heart condition.

3). Grand Prismatic Spring

It is the largest hot spring in the United states. It is also one of the most popular sights to see for tourists in Yellowstone.
You will find that there is a plethora of tour buses and random cars advertising they will take you to the Midway Geyser Basin, but if you drive south towards the parking lot at Fairy

Falls and search around for a path almost reclaimed by nature, you will find it leads to the top of a ash covered hill with an exceptional view of the Grand Prismatic Spring.
It is not an easy hike and you will most assuredly be found wanting for air, but the view it will grant you of the spring, without all the people cluttering your view, will be well

worth the hike.

4.) Sunrise in Lamar Valley

Undoubtedly, you will see a large crowd gathering on the side of the road in Lamar Valley trying to catch a glimpse of the ellusive wolves.
But, for a comparably amazing sight, families wake up early to catch the sun peaking its head over the mountain line, illuminating the rivers, streams, and bison in a kaleidoscope of

color.
Getting this head start will not only net you some fantastic photos to share, but it will give you a prime spot at Lamar Valley for sighting the wolves a little later in the day.
We suggest a stiff cup of black coffee to help keep you alert for this majestic early morning view, you will not want to miss a single moment.

5.) Lonestar Geyser

We have all heard of Old Faithful, named for it's predictable erruptions, but we also have heard of the crowds. With over 2/3 of the world's geysers located in yellowstone, it can seem

impossible to pick the right ones to view. If your looking to get a better view without hundreds of heads and cameras in the way, why not visit Lonestar Geyser. By taking a small hike

off the beaten path, you will find that you can get a great, exclusive view of this geyser. We suggest that you check the current geyser intervals for lonestar, which you can check

online, because it has at times stayed dormant for days. But,if you are lucky enough, you will gain a unmatched personal geyser experience almost all your own.
