Inside vs Outside U.S. Green Cards: What’s Your Best Route?#uscis #greencard #immigration

There are two main ways to get a marriage or parent green card: Adjustment of Status (if you’re inside the U.S.) or Consular Processing (if you’re abroad). Each has different timelines, benefits, and trade-offs.

Key facts:
• For spouses of U.S. citizens applying via AOS inside the U.S., average wait is ~8.2 months.

• For spouses outside the U.S. doing consular processing, wait time averages ~14.5 months.

• If your sponsor is a green card holder (not a citizen), the AOS wait (F2A) averages around 35 months.

• AOS gives flexibility: stay in U.S., possibly work and travel while waiting. Consular Processing involves interviews abroad and entering with immigrant visa.
