Having the courage to say No | Katherine Mulski | TEDxLangleyED
In her talk, Katherine expresses the beautiful struggle she finds herself in on a daily basis; balancing the worlds of the professional and the personal and all that fits in-between.
How do we then, negotiate the personal parts of our lives and leave time for it when it is incredibly hard to say 'no' to the obligations and myriad of commitments that certainly can impact health and overall passion for other interests outside of our professional ones?
This talk will hopefully help shed light through Katherine's sharing of her own personal narrative for fellow educators and stakeholders.
Ultimately having the courage to say no; to allow more space for personal time, is what may possibly necessitate change in order to attend to what can be identified to us as the most important: our well-being, managing our stress as professionals but most of all, the journey we take learning to know ourselves.
Katherine Mulski is currently working as a bilingual Instructional Coach for the Langley School District. Her passion for working with teachers includes work with SFU as an Inservice Faculty Associate teaching Graduate Diploma in Education programs. She has taught in Trinidad/ Tobago and South Korea and advocates for purposeful leveraging of technology and fun in the classroom. Katherine is studying as an EdD candidate and hopes to focus her research around self-study and the impact of multi-teaching roles in Education. You can find her fly-fishing or enjoying walks with her husband and English Bulldog, Nora. Her ability to 'Mulski'task is always a work in progress.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
