AVIATOR Jonathan Trappe is preparing for a world-first attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean by cluster balloon. With the precious helium gas needed to inflate the balloons secured it means 39-year-old Jonathan could launch in a matter of DAYS. Like a real life Disney movie 'Up' the pioneering adventurer will attempt a 2,500 mile flight from the US to Paris dangling from a BUNCH of colourful BALLOONS. The helium - enough to blow up 400,000 party balloons - will fill Jonathan 370 cluster balloons and lift him into the air. With launch day approaching, Joanthan, from Raleigh, North Carolina, a take-off will take off from a secret location in Maine, USA, where he will begin his historical aviation attempt. His equipment checklist is now complete; an engineer on the team added a custom-made gadget dubbed the 'Trappe-Nag' to his high-tech gear. The device will sound an alarm if Jonathan faces certain dangers like climbing too high or dropping too fast - allowing him to grab sleep when possible. Also advising on the project is American hero, Colonel Joseph Kittinger, who will be there on launch day. He famously participated as the Capsule Communicator during Red Bull Stratos, which saw Felix Baumgartner set a record-breaking 24-mile skydive from space last year.
