Two Months Old Baby Swaddle

Swaddling can be a soothing and comforting practice for a two-month-old baby. At this age, many babies still enjoy the snug, womb-like feeling of being gently wrapped in a soft, breathable blanket. Swaddling helps reduce the startle reflex (also known as the Moro reflex), which can cause a baby to suddenly flinch or wake up during sleep.

A properly swaddled baby may sleep more soundly and feel more secure, especially during naps or nighttime rest. The wrap provides a calming pressure that mimics the safety of being held, helping with self-soothing and better sleep routines.

However, at two months old, it's also important to begin watching for signs that the baby is starting to roll over. Once a baby shows signs of rolling — even just beginning to roll from back to side — swaddling should be discontinued during sleep. This is to reduce the risk of suffocation if the baby rolls onto their stomach while swaddled.

For safe swaddling:

Use a lightweight, breathable fabric.

Keep the hips and legs free to move to prevent hip dysplasia.

Avoid wrapping too tightly around the chest — the baby should be able to breathe comfortably.

Lay the baby on their back for sleep — never on their side or stomach.
Many parents switch to a transitional sleep sack or arms-free swaddle around this stage to give the baby more freedom of movement while still providing some security.

Swaddling can be a wonderful part of a calming bedtime routine, but always keep safety in mind and follow your baby’s cues. Every baby is different, and some may prefer to have their arms free or may outgrow swaddling comfort earlier than others.
