Udaipur Solar Observatory | USO | PRL

Udaipur solar observatory is situated on an island in the middle of Fateh Sagar Lake. This observatory was established by Arvind Bhatnagar in 1976. Since the observatory is located in the middle of lake, and hence the telescope is surrounded by water, which decreases the amount of heating of the surface layers. Also the weather condition of Udaipur is favorable for the study of Sun. This observatory is a part of Global Oscillations Network Group (GONG) which designed to have 24x7 observations of the sun. You can visit USO as outreach program of the Udaipur Solar Observatory.
