National Police Week Washington, DC. Day 4 US Capital & Mount Vernon

National Police Week in Washington, D.C., is an annual series of memorial events held each May to honor law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. Established by a joint resolution of Congress and a presidential proclamation by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, the week coincides with National Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th. It draws between 25,000 and 40,000 law enforcement personnel, survivors, and family members from around the world to the nation's capital for remembrance and camaraderie.
