How Gas Technicians Are Trained | From Classroom to Career

Training the next generation of gas technicians starts with the right foundation.

In this video, we take a closer look at a private career college in Ontario that has been training students for over 30 years — helping them achieve their Gas Technician 3 (G3) and Gas Technician 2 (G2) licenses through a hands-on, co-op-based learning model.

In the HVAC industry, real-world experience is just as important as classroom knowledge. That’s why programs like this focus on practical training — giving students the opportunity to work directly with equipment, understand systems, and build confidence before entering the field.

Through strong industry partnerships, students are able to transition from training into real career opportunities. Many go on to work in heating and cooling, gaining experience in installation, service, and system design across residential and commercial HVAC environments.

At Maple Air, we’ve seen the value of this approach firsthand — supporting students as they grow into skilled gas technicians and build long-term careers in the trades.

This is what the future of HVAC looks like.
