This colossal yagna of service and devotion to God and service to humanity, inspired by one legendary man, was kindled in a humble event in a non-descript place in Ahmedabad called Ambli Vali Pol.
21 May 1950 (Jeth sud 4, V.S. 2006) became forever etched in the chronicles of BAPS history and later sparked annual celebrations on an epic scale.
Yes, on this day, Shastriji Maharaj, the founder of BAPS, appointed 28-year-old Swami Narayanswarupdas as the president of BAPS – Pramukh Varni Din. The ritual placement by Shastriji Maharaj of his upper garment (gatariyu) on the shoulders of young Narayanswarupdas Swami and Yogiji Maharaj’s profound blessings signalled a new era that would usher peace and spiritual joy in the lives of millions worldwide. Later, Swami Narayanswarupdas became popularly known as Pramukh Swami and thereafter as the fifth guru of millions of devotees and well-wishers.
His colossal spiritual works and selfless services for over six decades speak volumes about the importance of that unique event in Ambli Vali Pol.
We dedicate this bhajan, written by Pujya Aksharjivandas Swami, at the lotus feet of beloved guruhari Pramukh Swami Maharaj on the occasion of his centenary celebrations. May Pramukh Swami Maharaj, who lives today through Mahant Swami Maharaj, bless us on Pramukh Varni Din with the divine colours of love, humility, character, faith, respect for all and service to humanity.
