This is how I calmly got a bat out of the back porch. On a serious note, I have found out that it is recommended that if you feel you might have been exposed to a bat while sleeping, for example, you woke up to a bat in your bedroom or you know or you think that you might have been bitten you should capture the bat so that it can be tested for rabies. If you have been exposed to rabies you will need to get a rabies shot within 10 days. Rabies symptoms can take anywhere from a month to a year to show up. Once rabies symptoms occur it has progressed to far for any treatment or cure. The rabies shot has to be administered before symptoms occur.
