Neon Jungle pitches a formidable foursome - Asami, Jess, Shereen and Amira – as the answer to all our pop woes. ”They don’t feel like the sort of band who’ve been invented as an easy copy of something that’s already in the charts, wrote Popjustice, “but nor do they seem like a straightforward reaction against what’s out there”. We’re stealing their words because we really couldn’t have said it better. There’s nothing quite so awesome as taking one of our favourite songs and making someone we like cover it for us. So that’s what we did. Lorde’s ‘Royals‘ – one of 2013′s best tracks – is already near-iconic in certain Best Fit households. Ella Yelich-O’Connor’s lyrical study of the disconnect between pop and reality is almost too fitting a choice for a band playing off an entirely unforced style and cohesion. Perhaps they’re the logical next step between prefabricated pop and personality-driven fun music. Whatever, we love it.
