3 Battery model using Simscape toolbox
How do you accurately predict a battery pack's behavior under real-world EV driving conditions? In this hands-on tutorial, we build a high-fidelity Battery Model using the Simscape Toolbox to monitor and plot State of Charge (SoC), current, voltage, and temperature in real-time!
Instead of relying on simple algebraic approximations, we leverage Simscape Electrical to build an Equivalent Circuit Model (ECM). We will explore how to model the battery's internal resistance and open-circuit voltage dynamics, connect thermal ports to capture temperature spikes during high current draw, and extract critical performance plots to evaluate cell degradation and thermal health.
