Usually we make our CMV'S in one location, during one day, and a quick edit. This one took four months, had seven locations and involved sfx editing.
Here is something that we actually put effort into. We had post production involved, usually Sam or Adrian message me being like 'Hey I have a rough idea' and when they come over they brief me and I make a mental storyboard as fast as I can. I spent roughly two weeks on the storyboard for this, staying up till two am on some nights cause I wanted it to be perfect. I edited the video during production, as the shoots were very spread apart and it saved me time after the wrap and also - I was able to improve as an editor and start to work my way into SFX editing (Sky replacement, fire, time reversal). I've worked on some professional shoots with D.O.P's and producers and a whole camera crew but I think I took more from this project than i've ever taken before from a shoot.
I know i'm ranting and maybe it's cause of the melancholy that follows a shoot wrap or it's cause it's late and I haven't slept.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who watches our videos. Seriously, Halycon has changed my life. I remember working on the Sealand video almost two years ago now and it's funny how little I knew. Due to that video, and you all who watch our videos, i've gotten wonderful opportunities in film - I'm doing a Higher in Moving Image Arts and going to the BFI Academy.
