Uganda found oil & gas deposits in 2006. Proven, recoverable oil reserves est 1.4 B to 1.7 B billion barrels. Natural gas reserves were estimated at 500 billion cubic feet

Earliest commercial output can begin, is 2020. Production start date has been pushed back several times in the past, low prices have contributed to those delays. However, disputes over refining location, taxes have also been important. 3 IOCs operate in Uganda: Tullow Oil, CNOOC, Total. Tullow got commercial production licenses in August. Uganda's oil exports would run via a pipeline, via Tanzania
