Unlike edge-lit implementations, tens of thousands of sub-millimetre LEDs sit directly behind the shutters, each driven at 23-bit precision to provide over 65 000 luminance levels in sync with a 240 Hz LC sweep that limits motion-blur MPRT to roughly 2 ms. An optical stack with low-gloss polariser and nano-texture coating lowers on-screen reflectance to 0.8 % while the wide-horizontal-viewing-angle matrix maintains uniform colour volume to ±89 °, ensuring stable blacks under ambient light.
Inside the chassis, TCL CSOT’s AIPQ-Pro silicon performs real-time object-based tone mapping and feeds Halo Control so zone boundaries track luminance transitions with minimal blooming. Quad HDMI 2.1 inputs carry 48 Gb/s for uncompressed 4 K 120 Hz transport and negotiate HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ and HLG, while a dynamic-light routine reins specular highlights to protect sustained ABL windows around 2 000 nits, preserving picture integrity and power budget balance.
Though shown as a technology demonstrator, the RGB mini-LED architecture is scheduled for mass production on the company’s Gen-11 oxide TFT line in Shenzhen during 2H 2025, seeding retail derivatives such as the forthcoming QM8 K series. By pairing oxide transistors, high-transmittance polarisers and a dual-cell optical cassette with a dense RGB emitter lattice, the platform demonstrates how LCD can still scale in brightness, efficiency and colour volume, offering a viable alternative to WOLED and micro-OLED in ultra-large home-theatre field
