2023 Mercedes AMG C 63 S (E-Performance) – World’s Most Powerful Four-cylinder engine

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE is a game changer: the hybrid powertrain is designed for maximum performance. For a completely new driving experience, it combines the AMG 2.0-litre turbo engine with an Electric Drive Unit (EDU) on the rear axle.

In addition to the obvious immediate thrust, the independent layout ensures a balanced weight distribution, which benefits both driving dynamics and handling. Depending on the driving mode, the electric motor adjusts power and torque to provide a more comfortable or performance-oriented driving experience. It is also possible to drive entirely on electricity. The electric powertrain and the 400-volt high-performance battery are AMG exclusives and in-house developments. The battery, like in Formula 1, is specifically designed for high power output and draw, with innovative direct cooling of the cells.

The electric range of 13 kilometers allows for a practical operating radius, such as in cities or residential areas. The total system output is 500 kW (680 hp), and the total system maximum torque is 1,020 Nm. These are new C-Class peak values.

Other highlights of the new model series, which is available in both saloon and estate versions, include: for the first time in a C-63, the fully variable all-wheel drive system AMG Performance 4MATIC+ is used to transfer drive power to the road, and it includes a Drift Mode for even more driving pleasure. Another unique feature in this segment is standard active rear-axle steering.
