The Association for Training and Development (ATD) did a study on aligning goals with outcomes and found that the success rate to hit your goal works out as follows:

10% - You have an idea or goal in mind.
25% - You consciously decide you will do it. (COMMIT to yourself)
40% - You decide WHEN you will do it. (creating a TIMELINE)
50% - You PLAN HOW you will do it.
65% - You COMMIT TO SOMEONE you will do it.
95% - You have a SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY APPOINTMENT with a person you've COMMITTED to.
