Sir Jim Ratcliffe buys 25 per cent of the Manchester United Football Club

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has completed a partial takeover of the Manchester United Football Club.

The British billionaire locked in a 25 per cent stake in the club, bringing to an end 13 months of talks surrounding a potential sale.

“Whilst the commercial success of the Club has ensured there have always been available funds to win trophies at the highest level, this potential has not been fully unlocked in recent times,” INEOS Chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe said in a statement.

“We will bring the global knowledge, expertise and talent from the wider INEOS Sport group to help drive further improvement at the Club.”

Sir Ratcliffe’s INEOS will gain control of football operations as part of the deal.

“Manchester United will have access to seasoned high-performance professionals, experienced in creating and leading elite teams from both inside and outside the gain,” Executive Co-Chairmen and Directors Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer said in a statement.
