It’s been a while since I built a real Franken rig.

I usually stay inside complete camera ecosystems, but before a long road trip with my family, I wanted to build something different for my Fujifilm GFX 100 II. Not just for the sake of being different — but because testing weird setups like this always teaches me something for future professional work. And honestly… that’s part of the fun.

In this video, I’m walking through my new handheld GFX 100 II rig using the DJI Focus Pro LiDAR, Bright Tangerine Halo system, custom monitor placement, and a few choices that probably won’t make sense to everybody at first glance. I talk through what’s working, what isn’t, why I’m not using the Halo the way some people expected, and the one thing I really wish DJI would make for the Focus Pro system.

This isn’t a “perfect rig” video. It’s more of a working filmmaker’s thought process: testing, solving problems, staying lightweight (kinda), and trying to keep the setup as streamlined as possible without losing functionality.
