Prepare your firm to work on Public Works Projects:
• California Contractor’s License (varies depending on type of work)
• Register your firm with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR)
• Obtain Certificate(s) of Insurance
• Obtain or increase your Surety Bonding (if it’s required by prime)
• Understand Labor Compliance / Certified Payroll
• Have the necessary capital to wait for payment for several months
• Obtain Small Business certifications (SB, SB-PW, DVBE, or DBE).
