Daughter of Dad with 6 DUIs Gets Arrested for Her First DUI

On March 14, 2026 at approximately 1:10 AM, Officer Blake Powers with the St. Charles Police Department observed a red 2016 Kia Optima fail to fully stop at a stop sign before turning at the intersection of N 3rd Street and State Street. He followed the vehicle, and the driver once again failed to fully stop at a stop sign at the intersection of State Street and N 2nd Street. The vehicle continued northbound on N 2nd Street before turning left onto Wildrose Springs Drive.

At this time, Officer Powers activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop on Wildrose Springs Drive. Officer Powers advised dispatch of his location and made contact with the driver, who was identified as 28-year-old Kassidy Donohue. He told Kassidy that she had failed to stop at 2 stop signs.

As he was speaking with Kassidy, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. She would later tell him that she had been at Alley 64, and admit to drinking earlier that evening. After Officer Sean Nicholson arrived on scene, Kassidy was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises.

The first exercise was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test Officer Powers observed 5/6 indicators of impairment. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Kassidy did not touch heel-to-toe on each step and turned improperly. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Kassidy failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete.

Based on the odor of alcohol, her admission to drinking at Alley 64 earlier that evening, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Powers placed Kassidy under arrest for driving under the influence. Officer Nicholson transported her to the St. Charles Police Department for further processing. While she was being transported, she claimed that her dad had gotten 6 DUIs, and that this was her first one. At the station, Kassidy refused to submit breath samples. She was eventually released to her friend pending her court appearance.

Kassidy was charged with the following:
-Driving under the influence - alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2))
-Disobeying a stop sign (625 ILCS 5/11-1204(b))
