SERMON: When Life is Not Fair (Pastor Vlad)

Message preached today at @HungryGeneration on the second service about the power of God's favor to those who refuse to be offended at the unfairness in life.

Main Scriptures: Daniel 1:8-9; 2 Corinthians 9:7-8

Some give out of pressure
Some give out of prompting
Some give out of purposing in their heart

1. You don't need a prompting to give; give as you purpose in your heart.
God doesn't have to put things on our hearts since He has put a new spirit in us.
Parents don't get mad if kids do their chores without being told.
A. Make giving a priority. Tithing is giving; first, tipping is giving last.
B. Give by percentage. Tithing was practiced 550 years before the law by Abraham and 500 years by Jacob.
"The reason we give is that tithing is our way of paying our partner -- God. God is the best business partner that I've ever had. He asks for 10 percent and lets me keep the other 90 percent. You know what happens if you stop paying your partners? They stop working with you. That is why we tithe." Robert Kiyosaki
"Yes, I tithe, and I would like to tell you how it all came about. I had to begin work as a small boy to help support my mother. My first wages amounted to $1.50 per week. The first week after I went to work, I took the $1.50 home to my mother and she held the money in her lap and explained to me that she would be happy if I would give a tenth of it to the Lord. I did, and from that week until this day I have tithed every dollar God has entrusted to me. And I want to say, if I had not tithed the first dollar I made I would not have tithed the first million dollars I made. Tell your readers to train the children to tithe, and they will grow up to be faithful stewards of the Lord." John D. Rockefeller, Sr.

2. Favor flows to those who are faithful in unfair situations. Don't hinge faithfulness to fairness. Stay faithful even when you're fearful. Don't fight for fairness; trust in God's favor.

Tithing is testing God and God testing us. If we don't fail our test, God will not fail His. Scripture reference: Malachi 3:10

3. The more we give, the more we have. Naturally, we get skinny by eating vegetables; Daniel got fat by eating vegetables.

4. God wants to bless our work, not our welfare check. God’s blessing is in giving us wisdom, not wealth. His blessing is not material but mental.
