Tatkaar - Kathak and Tap Dance Collaboration - VITF 2013 - Part 2, "Laura"

Tatkaar is a collaboration by Tap dancer Susan Nase and Kathak dancer Amika Kushwaha in Vancouver, BC Canada. This performance of Tatkaar at the Vancouver International Tap Festival's "Super Natural BC Tap" on Aug 30, 2013 received rave reviews.

At this performance, Amika and Susan paid tribute to master tap dancer and legend Dr. James 'Buster' Brown with a rendition of his famous choreography "Laura."

In Tatkaar, translated as "rhythmic footwork," these artists explore the concept of percussion through dance. Percussion is usually associated with an instrument, however this collaboration shows how dance can also be percussive. This creative blend of two dance forms, Rhythm Tap and Kathak, is unique and is the first of its kind in Canada.
