How to change the dome, hinge or base on the 2 and 3 series Kamado Joe.
before you open a hinge band or remove the hinge you have to Lock the hinge.
First you release the tension of the spring in the hinge by loosen the nut on the hinge in back of the grill. you open the dome to find it.
When that's done you close the lid/dome and "lock" the hinge with the cylinder/pipe, washer and nut using a 14mm socket.
tinghten it so the spring/rod feels loose and can wiggle.
Now you can change the needed part.

When done! remove the nut, washer and cylinder/pipe.
And tighten the spring so the hinge can support the dome/lid.
