UK grad students study Ky food systems

University of Kentucky graduate students from disciplines across UK's campus are studying sustainable food systems in a new class offered for the first time this fall semester. The graduate level course started before classes began by taking the students around the state to learn first hand about the people and places that characterize Kentucky's food and farming systems. The tour included one day in Eastern Kentucky, one day in Western Kentucky, one day in Central Kentucky, and one day in Louisville. In each location, the class visited a variety of farms, food-related businesses and nonprofits, and community food security efforts. The last day involved a tour of UK facilities and food system assets.

The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment serves the people of Kentucky and the world, through unparalleled teaching, transformative research and relevant service to farms, families and communities. The college proudly continues to build upon its land grant tradition with a strong commitment to improve lives and to build a sustainable future.
