Lake Otjikoto & The Legend Of Kaiser's Lost Gold (Explored For Treasure)
Lake Otjikoto is known as Namibia’s Lake of Gold based on the legend of sunken gold which is at the bottom. The Expedition Unknown or what is commonly referred to as Africa’s Cursed Lake of Gold is a subject of exploration by many who wish to uncover the mystery surrounding Kaiser's gold.
The Lake is one of the only two permanent natural lakes in Namibia. During World War I, German troops dumped war materials in the lake before surrendering. According to legend a sealed safe containing gold was also dumped into the lake.
This mystery and natural wonder is located in the northern part of the country about 20
kilometers away from the regional capital
Tsumeb. This mysterious attraction is open daily, from sunrise to sunset and it is about 100 meters away from the main B1 road. You can hardly miss it as it lay amongst the trees of its surroundings.
On a bright sunny day the water has a mirror reflection of the sky and can appear very blue but as one decents beneat the lake the water looks lime green.With special request one can be permitted to climb down to the lake shore via a rock stairway😱, HOWEVER one is not encouraged swim, this action is strictly forbidden.
One can find a public display of a list of treasures that is yet to be uncovered in and arround the premissed of the mystical lake.
Lake Otjikoto is a deep and wide structure, formed thousands of years ago as a result of the collapse of dolomite rocks arch. It is surrounded by different plentiful vegetation, including the rare python tree. According to scientiest the rocks roof collapsed due to underwater weathering and stress.
The lake is 120 m long and 100 m wide. Its depth remains a mystery to this day due to the fact that nobody has ever dare reach its bottom, on the quest of the 60 million worth of Gold bars. The water under the lake is a running stream, and gives a lot of pressure as one goes deep down, at the most the furthest some divers have gone is 145 m deep.
Lake Otjikoto is a Namibian heritage site and tourists and locals alike can visit it on
a daily basis for the view of the structures, artefacts, surroundings as well as getting historical facts about the lake. A craft shop and cafe selling crafts from the Hai-//om San bushmen people who are indegenous
inhabitants of the surroundings is also on site. The water from the lake irrigates on two nearby farm and also supplies a nearby location with water, thus the water is suited and confirmed to be safe for irrigation and household use.
