BBC stands by comedian who said “kill whitey”

The BBC has stood by a comedian for ‘joking’ about “killing whitey” on the Frankie Boyle show, claiming it was 'satirical content'.

Comedian Sophie Duker appeared on Frankie Boyle’s BBC2 show, New World Order where she made the comments about “killing whitey.”

Duker was responding to a clip of black author James Baldwin discussing the idea of black power in an interview from the 1970s. “White power is Trump Tower,” Duker said. “When we say we want to kill whitey, we don’t really want to kill whitey”, but then quickly added “we do".

Liam Deacon from Defund The BBC: "It's the double standards that exist at the BBC that are so galling. Would other people have been fired for this? Absolutely".

Deacon added "it has been a fantastically bad couple of weeks for the BBC, just when they promised to improve, and it is exposing the radical change that we need in our media".
