The song was originally written as "She Was Beautiful". When the producer heard it, he felt that it would be perfect to describe Cher's relationship with Gregg if they changed it to "He Was Beautiful". They were thrilled to make the change and very proud of all the records they wrote for Cher.

This is a photo chronology of the events as I recall them leading up to Elijah's birth, the lead singer and intelligent lyricist behind the band DEADSY, son of Cher and Gregg Allman. The song is from Cher's LP "Cherished," released in 1977, but never on CD commercially.
