Today I want to talk about my patient Sampson. Sampson presented to me with concerns of gaps between his teeth and crowding. Now Samson's a particularly informed patient because he actually said to me that he felt his smile was too narrow. When we look at his facial photos we can start to confirm some of the problems that he's talked about. You know the gaps are very obvious and yes his smile is narrow. We can see dark shadows in the corners of his mouth where there should be teeth. His teeth fade away quite quickly and there's not very many teeth visible in his smile. When we have a closer look we can start to see and confirm some of those problems that he's talking about. He also has a deep overbite as well and that's where the top teeth overlap the bottom teeth by too much. So with Sampson we did 18 months of Damon Clear Braces together with elastics and you can see the end result there. It's a much wider smile. We've also corrected his overbite and close the gaps as well. He had some lower crowding too and that was all dealt with and here you can see his retainer is in place. But this essentially is the photo that shows the cause of all of his problems. He has a very narrow upper jaw and following Damon Clear Braces, we were able to expand the upper jaw to create enough room without removing any teeth to have all of his teeth straightened, and for his lower teeth to also be straight and fit within the upper jaw. Here's the after result and you can see his smile is amazing. It really fits in very well with his lips and his face. It's a much fuller and wider smile.
