Moonrise (1948), directed by Frank Borzage, is a film noir drama set in a small Virginia town. Danny Hawkins, son of a man hanged for murder, is bullied and haunted by his father’s legacy. After killing his tormentor in self-defense, Danny struggles with guilt, fear, and the town’s suspicion. With the support of a schoolteacher and his loyal friend, he faces a tense manhunt and ultimately seeks redemption, confronting his past and his own conscience.
