Most people think data centers are just buildings full of servers.
But behind every click, every stream, and every AI request…
there’s a system that cannot fail.
𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀:
Reliable Power Infrastructure
From transmission → substations → switchgear → transformers → UPS → rack-level distribution
Everything is built with redundancy.
𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀
Because heat = failure.
𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 & 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
If one system fails, another takes over instantly—no downtime.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀 & 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗟𝗖 / 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗗𝗔)
Real-time monitoring, alarms, and system logic.
🔍 And most importantly… a QA mindset
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲.
Instead of just operating equipment, I started thinking like a QA engineer:
What happens if this fails?
Where is the single point of failure?
Did we actually test this under real conditions?
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵
I spent 18 years in the electrical field.
But I knew tech was where I wanted to go.
So I took a leap and enrolled in a QA Engineering bootcamp with TripleTen.
𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲:
✅ Structured problem-solving
✅ Testing mindset (that applies directly to infrastructure)
✅ Exposure to APIs, automation, and systems thinking
And the biggest realization?
I didn’t have to start over.
I just had to stack tech skills on top of my existing experience.
𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵...
You don’t need to come from a traditional tech background.
If you’re in:
Electrical
Mechanical
Construction
Operations
𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
You just need the right bridge.
𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
If you’re thinking about transitioning into tech or data centers and don’t know where to start…
𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲.
I’m happy to share:
What worked for me
How to position your background
And how you can realistically make the move
