Bus monitor Nate Carlis talks about his history

We're highlighting Nate Carlis, a member of our transportation team! It is also Black History Month, and we want to pay honor to Nate's place in Black history.

Nate has worked for Tulsa Public Schools for almost 20 years as a bus driver and now a bus monitor. During World War II, Nate served with the Tuskegee Airmen as a member of the ground crew. Check out this video of Nate talking about his days growing up in Oklahoma, raising his family in Tulsa, and the progress he's seen within the country.

Nate's son, Dr. DaNa Carlis, is a alumnus of Carver Middle School and Booker T. Washington High School. He recently made history as the first Black man to be named lab director in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
