1:49 Gerard K. O'Neill developed several concepts for his famous rotating space station, the O'Neill Cylinder.
3:53 Inspired by NASA's success with the Apollo missions, O'Neill envisioned his rotating space habitats to be built already in the late 80s and people would already live in space by 2021.
6:51 As for the good old Blue Origin vs SpaceX discussion, Jeff Bezos's vision is for humans to live in a rotating space colony such as the O'Neill Cylinder, whereas Elon Musk wants to colonize Mars with Starship / Super Heavy as soon as possible.
9:10 Because of the enormous size and the huge amount of building material required, a Blue Origin O'Neill cylinder can't be built out of Earth materials.
11:22 O'Neill himself suggested using lunar metal ores to build such giant rotating space habitats, whereas asteroid mining would make even more sense for constructing O'Neill cylinders.
