Why administrators are vital to research - 101 Jobs that Change the World (Ep3)

A vital part of research is making sure everything runs smoothly, from applying for funding to workshops that connect researchers with the people who will be impacted by their work.

Ivy Nandongwa is Program Administrative Assistant at the African Population and Health Research Center in Nairobi, Kenya. Ivy supports two research units, organising meetings, workshops and conferences, travel and other logistics to ensure the smooth running of research projects.

She says “My major goal is to make sure that activities run as planned and they run smoothly. Anything that they need for the project to succeed, I facilitate. They help solve problems, therefore when their projects run smoothly and their objectives are met, they are able to change the world.”
