“Final chapter of “Ain’t Rock n Roll” is “Will & Testament”. A song very special to me. I started writing this song as an eulogy for my grandfather when it came to my knowledge that it, at the time, had been 10 years since his passing. He got diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 70. At first the doctors told us that he had a benign type of leukemia and that the outlook looked good. But shortly after having started the treatment things got worse. Tests had shown that he now had a severe malignant type of leukemia. We were told he didn’t have much more time left. I remember speaking to him over the phone a few times when he was at the hospital. He told me he was watching a TV show about horses that he found very interesting. He said that the horses were so beautiful. And he was longing for the woods. To smell the trees, to pick mushrooms. He never got to do that again.

Only a short while into the writing of this song I got the message that my grandmother was sick. Just as with my grandfather, her late husband, things seemed positive at first.
Then one day when standing in the hallway of my mother’s house, my mother received a call from the doctor. I couldn’t hear what the doctor was saying but I could tell it wasn’t good news. The call ended and there I stood, holding my shaking mother and we both cried floods. We knew that it was time again. And no one of us wanted to be there, but we had to be there. I got to go and meet my very proud and, at the time, very calm grandmother at the hospital a few times. Even on the night she went away I got to see her and say goodbye. She had aimed for 100. She never reached 80.

Cancer is a reckless monster. It eats pieces off of every family, tries to shatter them. Sometimes it is beaten. Sometimes it succeeds. I aimed to make this song as epic as I possibly could; I invited friends Cecilia Hahne and Elly Hahne to play cello and violin. We also had our good friend Anna C. Hallberg to do some sweet vocal harmonies. I played some broken violins as well to get the final arrangement. Everything to honour two of the most influential people in my life.”
